This is a requirement for all young people who have not yet achieved a GCSE Grade 3 or above or a Level 2 or equivalent qualification.

All Functional Skills and GCSE classes will be delivered on our Westgate College site.

Your prior attainment for English and maths will be checked and appropriate assessment will take place before you are given your timetable for maths and English.

How to apply

If you choose to apply to join Newcastle City Learning’s Programmes for Young People provision, you will be invited to visit the college and meet with a member of the pastoral team.

They will talk to you about your needs, your previous experience of education and your goals and aspirations. During this time, you will also complete initial assessments and we will check that you meet the entry requirements for your chosen pathway.

We will help you enrol onto your programme and apply for financial support if required.
